Juan has spent most of his career in New York, investing for either hedge funds or private equity funds covering Emerging Markets. Juan’s most recent investing experience included being the director of a multi-billion dollar hedge fund in New York where he was responsible for the Emerging Markets investments of the firm. As an investor, Juan has structured or participated in the structuring of a variety of investments totaling over US$1B, ranging from traditional private equity investments, to bond restructurings, to mezzanine type deals with complex security and cash flow structures. His experience also includes investment banking with focus on mergers and acquisitions at Citi. As an investment banker Juan participated in transformational transactions for Cemex, FEMSA, The Republic of Uruguay, and Grupo Techint (Ternium), among others. Juan relocated from New York to Colombia in 2013 to work full-time in Appian.
Juan is an Industrial Engineer from Universidad de los Andes.
