Alejandro joined Appian in 2014 and has spent most of his career in the areas of finance, strategy, and direct equity investments.
He started in Investment Banking at Credit Suisse First Boston and then moved on to do strategic consulting for Bain & Company in New York. Most recently, before relocating to Colombia, he spent five years as a vice-president at H.I.G. Capital, a leading US private equity firm which invests in diverse industries in the middle market space. In 2012, he returned to Colombia to work in the Impact Investing space, serving as Director of The Social Investment Bank, where he led the asset management division in charge of structuring funds focused on industries that have a positive social impact such as Education. He has been actively involved in the non-profit sector, where he has focused most of his efforts on supporting Entrepreneurship and Education. He has served on various for-profit and non-profit boards, including Accupac, Blush Bar, Eduemplea, Ventures Colombia, Ensena por Colombia, and Volunteers for Colombia. He has also served as investment committee member of Pioneros de la Innovacion Social and Fundacion ZC.
Alejandro holds a BS in Economics from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
